About Me
Board certified in pediatrics and pediatric infectious diseases by the American Board of Pediatrics, Dr. Nyle Maissen joined Valley Children’s Specialty Medical Group as a pediatric infectious diseases specialist in August 2015. He has a special interest in infections in immunocompromised patients.
Dr. Maissen is a member of several professional societies, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Infectious Diseases Society of America, the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society, and the American Medical Association.
Dr. Maissen received his medical degree from the University of Damascus in Damascus, Syria. He did his pediatric residency at Children's Hospital of Michigan, Wayne State University, in Detroit, Michigan. He completed his pediatric infectious diseases fellowship at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, in Memphis, Tennessee.
During his fellowship at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Dr. Maissen participated in several research projects focusing on gastrointestinal infections in pediatric oncology patients and immunocompromised children.
Dr. Maissen took part in an international health rotation, with a focus on HIV prevention, at Princess Margaret Hospital in Nassau, the Bahamas.
Dr. Maissen is fluent in Arabic.
In his free time, he enjoys biking, kayaking and spending time with his family.
