About Me
Board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, Dr. Kayla Barnes joined the emergency department (ED) team at Valley Children’s Specialty Medical Group in 2021.
Prior to her current role, Dr. Barnes worked as a pediatric emergency fellow at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas. She also provided education to fellows and residents at Children’s Mercy Hospital on digital nerve blocks, suture and simulation. She has done extensive research on quality improvement in emergency medicine and the prevalence of mycoplasma genitalium and antibiotic resistance in adolescent females, and has shared her expertise in various posters and presentations.
Dr. Barnes earned her medical degree from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. She completed her residency at DMC Children’s Hospital in Detroit Michigan where she also completed her fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine.
