About Me

Board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and fellowship-trained, Dr. Angela Veesenmeyer joined Valley Children’s Specialty Medical Group as a pediatric infectious diseases specialist in August 2016. Her scholarly interests include: rapid diagnostic methods and their impact on physician antimicrobial prescribing behavior; antimicrobial stewardship; and enhancing the evaluation and remediation process for learners.

Dr. Veesenmeyer has held several academic appointments since 2008, including clinical instructor, Department of Pediatrics, Evanston Hospital, University of Chicago, Pritzker School of Medicine; assistant professor, Division of Hospital Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, in Madison, Wisconsin; and director of pediatric medical student education at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. She was named in the “Top 25 Teachers in the Department of Pediatrics” at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in 2013.

Dr. Veesenmeyer has presented on topics in her field and has published her work in peer-reviewed publications such as Pediatrics in Review, Medical Teacher, Hospital Pediatrics and Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal.

She is a member of several professional societies, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, Infectious Diseases Society of America, and Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society.

Dr. Veesenmeyer received her medical degree from the University of Arizona, College of Medicine in Tucson, Arizona. She did her pediatric residency at University of Arizona Affiliated Hospitals in Tucson. She completed her pediatric infectious diseases fellowship at University of Utah, Primary Children’s Hospital, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She is board eligible in pediatric infectious diseases.

In her free time, she enjoys running, wine tasting, watching reality TV cooking shows, pursuing the perfect chocolate chip cookie recipe, and raising both her dog and her son to be upstanding citizens.
